Chapter on Additions Regarding Zakat

And from him, from a number of our companions, from Sahl ibn Ziyad, from Ali ibn Hassan, from some of our companions, from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, who said: Imam عليه السلام said: "One prescribed prayer is better than twenty pilgrimages, and one pilgrimage is better than a house full of gold which he spends in righteousness until it is exhausted." He (narrator) said: “Then Imam عليه السلام said: ‘And he has not succeeded who wastes twenty houses of gold for twenty-five dirhams.’" He (narrator) said: “So I asked: ‘And what is the meaning of twenty-five?’ Imam عليه السلام said: "Whoever withholds zakat, his prayer is suspended until he gives zakat."
