Chapter on Sunnahs of the Month of Ramadan

Muhammad ibn Yaqub, from Ali ibn Ibrahim, from his father, from Ahmad ibn al-Nadr al-Khazzaz, from Amr ibn Shimr, from Jabir ibn Yazid, from Abu Ja’far عليه السلام, peace be upon him, who said: Imam عليه السلام said: “The Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, may Allah سبحانه وتعالى bless him and his family, said to Jabir ibn Abdullah, ‘O Jabir, this is the month of Ramadan. Whoever fasts its day, stands for a portion of worship from its night, keeps his stomach and his private part chaste, and restrains his tongue, exits from his sins just as he exits from the month.’ – meaning end of the month of Ramadan. So Jabir asked: “O Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, how excellent this hadith is.” Then the Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, may Allah سبحانه وتعالى bless him and his family, said: “O Jabir, and how severe these conditions are.”
