Chapter on Ruling of the Traveller and the Sick Person Regarding Fasting

Sa’ad ibn Abdullah, from Muhammad ibn Abd al-Jabbar, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Najran, from Hammad ibn Isa, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Abdullah, from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, who said: I (narrator) asked Imam عليه السلام about ‘a man who fasted the month of Ramadan while travelling.’ Imam عليه السلام said: “If it had not reached him that the Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, Allah’s سبحانه وتعالى blessings be upon him and his family, forbade that, then he does not have to make it up, and the fast has sufficed for him.”
