Chapter on Ruling of the Traveller and the Sick Person Regarding Fasting
Al-Husayn ibn Said, from Uthman ibn Isa, from Samaah, who said:
I (narrator) asked Imam عليه السلام about ‘fasting while travelling.’ Imam عليه السلام said: “There is no fasting while travelling. Some people fasted during the time of the Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, Allah’s سبحانه وتعالى blessings be upon him and his family, so the Prophet صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم named them the ‘disobedient ones’. Thus there is no fasting while travelling except the three days which Allah سبحانه وتعالى, Mighty and Majestic, mentioned regarding the Hajj.”
