And from him, from Ali ibn Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abi Umayr, and Muhammad ibn Ismail, from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan, from Ibn Abi Umayr, from Jamil, from Zurarah, from Abu Ja’far عليه السلام, peace be upon him: (Imam عليه السلام was asked) regarding ‘a man who becomes sick, then the month of Ramadan overtakes him, and it passes from him while he is sick, until another month of Ramadan overtakes him.’ Imam عليه السلام said: “He gives charity for the first, and fasts the second. But if he had recovered in between them and did not fast until another month of Ramadan overtook him, he fasts both of them together and gives charity for the first.”
