Chapter on Ruling of Treatment for the Fasting Person, Kohl, Cupping, the Tooth-Stick (Siwak), Entering the Bathhouse, and Other than That

And from him, from Hammad ibn Isa, from Abdullah ibn Maymun, from Abu Abdillah Imam Ja’far عليه السلام from his father, Imam al-Baqir عليه السلام, peace be upon them both, who said: Imams عليه السلام said: “Three things do not break the fast of the fasting person: vomiting, nocturnal emission (al-ihtilam), and cupping (al-hijamah). The Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, underwent cupping while the Prophet صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم was fasting, and the Prophet صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم did not see any harm in kohl for the fasting person.”
