Chapter on Categories of Fasting and the Explanation of All of Them with Clarification
عَلِيُّ بْنُ اَلْحَسَنِ بْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ أَبِي هَمَّامٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اَلرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِي اَلْحَسَنِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ قَالَ:» صَوْمُ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ يَعْدِلُ اَلسَّنَةَ« وَ قَالَ» لَمْ يَصُمْهُ اَلْحَسَنُ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ وَ صَامَهُ اَلْحُسَيْنُ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ«.
Ali ibn al-Hasan ibn Faddal, from Yaqub ibn Yazid, from Abu Hammam, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Abdullah, from Abu al-Hasan عليه السلام, peace be upon him:
Imam عليه السلام said: “Fasting the day of Arafah is equal to the year.” And Imam عليه السلام said: “Imam al-Hasan عليه السلام, peace be upon him, did not fast (day of Arafah), and Imam al-Husayn عليه السلام, peace be upon him, fasted (day of Arafah).”
