About the Occultation

Saʿd b. ʿAbd Allāh, ʿAbd Allāh b. Jaʿfar al-Ḥimyarī and Muḥammad b. Yaḥyā al-ʿAṭṭār altogether said: “Aḥmad b. Muḥammad b. ʿĪsā, Ibrāhīm b. Hāshim, Aḥmad b. Abī ʿAbd Allāh al-Barqī and Muḥammad b. al-Ḥusayn b. Abī’l-Khaṭṭāb narrated to us, altogether saying: “Abū ʿAlī al-Ḥasan b. Maḥbūb al-Sarrād narrated to us, from Dāwūd b. al-Ḥuṣayn, from Abī Baṣīr from al-Ṣādiq, Jaʿfar b. Muḥammad, from his forefathers عليهم السلام, who said that the Apostle of Allāh صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم stated: “The Mahdī is of my posterity. His name is my name, his teknonym is my teknonym, and he is the most resembling of people to me in constitution and character. There will be an occultation for him, and confusion until the creation are misguided away from their religious commitments. At that time, he will approach as like a piercing flame,[1] whereupon he will fill it (the Earth) with justice and equity just as it had once been filled with oppression and iniquity.”
