Chapter on Ruling of the Sick Person Who Breaks the Fast Then Becomes Well during Part of the Day, the Menstruating Woman Who Becomes Pure, and the Traveller Who Arrives/Traveller Returns

The Shaykh (Al-Mufid), may Allah سبحانه وتعالى have mercy on him, said: “And if the sick person breaks his fast on a day of the month of Ramadan, then becomes well during the remainder of his day, while he had eaten and drunk, then abstaining (imsak) is obligatory upon him, and making up (qada) that day is also upon him. Likewise, the traveller, when he arrives at his home during part of the day.” What indicates this is what al-Zuhri narrated from Imam Ali ibn al-Husayn عليه السلام, peace be upon them both, in the report in which Imam عليه السلام mentioned the categories of fasting, and we shall present it in its proper form later, if Allah سبحانه وتعالى, the Exalted, wills.
