In response to a Kolayb al-Jarmi who came from Basra to enquire about his position vis-a-vis the people of Jamal
فَقَالَ لَهُ ـ عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ ـ : فَامْدُدْ إذاً يَدَكَ.
Amīr al-mu’minīn then said: So then extend your hand.
