Chapter on the Contract of Manumission (Mukataba)

Hammad narrated from al-Halabi, from Abu Abdullah عليه السلام, regarding a mukatab (a slave under a contract of emancipation) whose master stipulated that he should not marry without the master's permission until he fulfills his contract. Imam عليه السلام said: "He should not marry without the master's permission, for they have their condition."
