Ali ibn Ja'far asked his brother Imam Musa ibn Ja'far عليه السلام about a Christian bathing with a Muslim in the public bath. Imam عليه السلام said: "If it is known that he is a Christian, the Muslim should bathe using water other than that of the bath unless the Christian bathes alone at the pool, washes it, and then bathes." He (Ali ibn Ja’far) also asked Imam عليه السلام about a Jew or a Christian putting their hand into water - can it be used for Wudu' (ablution) for prayer? Imam عليه السلام said: "No, unless it is absolutely necessary."
