Chapter on Water and Its Rules, and What is Permissible and Impermissible for Purification
And with this chain of narration, from Hammad, from Hariz, from al-Fadl Abu al-‘Abbas, who said:
I asked Abu Abdullah عليه السلام about the leftover water of a cat, a sheep, a cow, a camel, a donkey, a horse, a mule, wild animals, and predators - I left nothing out and asked him about all of them. Imam عليه السلام said: "There is no harm in it." Then I asked (specifically) about the dog. Imam عليه السلام said: "It is filthy and impure (rijs najis). Do not perform Wudu' (ablution) with its leftover water. Pour that water out and wash the vessel with soil the first time, then with water."
