The Shaykh (Al-Mufid), may Allah سبحانه وتعالى support him, narrated to me from Abu al-Qasim Ja'far ibn Muhammad, from his father, from Sa'd ibn Abdullah, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad, from Ayyub ibn Nuh, from Safwan ibn Yahya, from Mu'awiyah ibn Sharih, who said: ‘Udhaffir asked Abu Abdullah عليه السلام in my presence about the leftover water (su’r) of a cat, a sheep, a cow, a camel, a donkey, a horse, a mule, and predators. He asked: "Can it be drunk or used for Wudu' (ablution)?" Imam عليه السلام said: "Yes, you may drink from it and perform Wudu' with it." He said: "I asked him (specifically) about the dog." Imam عليه السلام said: "No." I said: "Is it not one of the predators?" Imam عليه السلام said: "No, by Allah سبحانه وتعالى, it is impure (najis). No, by Allah سبحانه وتعالى, it is impure (najis)."
