Chapter on Purifying Clothes and Other Items From Impurities

مَا أَخْبَرَنِي بِهِ اَلشَّيْخُ أَيَّدَهُ اَللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْ أَبِي اَلْقَاسِمِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَبِي جَمِيلَةَ اَلْبَصْرِيِّ قَالَ: كُنْتُ مَعَ يُونُسَ بِبَغْدَادَ وَأَنَا أَمْشِي مَعَهُ فِي اَلسُّوقِ فَفَتَحَ صَاحِبُ اَلْفُقَّاعِ فُقَّاعَهُ فَقَفَزَ فَأَصَابَ ثَوْبَ يُونُسَ فَرَأَيْتُهُ قَدِاِغْتَمَّ لِذَلِكَ حَتَّى زَالَتِ اَلشَّمْسُ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ يَا أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ أَلاَ تُصَلِّي قَالَ فَقَالَ لِي لَيْسَ أُرِيدُ أُصَلِّي حَتَّى أَرْجِعَ إِلَى اَلْبَيْتِ وَ أَغْسِلَ هَذَا اَلْخَمْرَ مِنْ ثَوْبِي فَقُلْتُ لَهُ هَذَا رَأْيٌ رَأَيْتَهُ أَوْ شَيْءٌ تَرْوِيهِ فَقَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي هِشَامُ بْنُ اَلْحَكَمِ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ أَبَا عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ عَنِ اَلْفُقَّاعِ فَقَالَ« لاَ تَشْرَبْهُ فَإِنَّهُ خَمْرٌ مَجْهُولٌ فَإِذَا أَصَابَ ثَوْبَكَ فَاغْسِلْهُ».
Narrated to me by the Shaykh (Al-Mufid), may Allah سبحانه وتعالى support him, from Abu Al-Qasim Ja’far bin Muhammad, from Muhammad bin Ya’qub, from Muhammad bin Yahya, from some of our companions, from Abu Jamilah Al-Basri, who said:
I was with Yunus in Baghdad, walking with him in the market. The seller of fuqqa' (a fermented drink) opened a container, and some of it splashed onto Yunus’s garment. I saw that he became distressed about it until the sun had set. I said to him: "O Abu Muhammad, will you not pray?" He said to me: "I will not pray until I return home and wash this wine off my garment." I asked him: "Is this your own opinion, or is it something you narrate?" He said: "Hisham bin Al-Hakam informed me that he asked Abu Abdullah عليه السلام about fuqqa' and Imam عليه السلام said, 'Do not drink it, for it is an unknown wine. If it touches your garment, wash it.'"
