Chapter on Purifying Clothes and Other Items From Impurities

Narrated to me by the Shaykh (Al-Mufid), may Allah سبحانه وتعالى support him, from Abu Al-Qasim Ja’far bin Muhammad, from Muhammad bin Ya’qub, from a group of our companions, from Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Isa, from Al-Husayn bin Sa’id, from Fadalah bin Ayyub, from Umar bin Aban Al-Kalbi, from Muhammad bin Muslim, from one of the Imams عليه السلام: I asked Imam عليه السلام about nabidh (fermented drink) whose fermentation had subsided. Imam عليه السلام said: "The Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى (peace be upon him and his family) prohibited the use of (dubba’) (gourds) and (muzaffat) (pitch-coated containers). And you have added (al-ghadar) and (al-muzaffat), meaning the pitch that is used in containers to make the wine more refined."
