Chapter on Purifying Clothes and Other Items From Impurities

أَخْبَرَنِي اَلشَّيْخُ أَيَّدَهُ اَللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْ أَبِي اَلْقَاسِمِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ حَمَّادٍ عَنْ حَرِيزٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لَهُ اَلدَّمُ يَكُونُ فِي اَلثَّوْبِ عَلَيَّ وَ أَنَا فِي اَلصَّلاَةِ قَالَ« إِنْ رَأَيْتَهُ وَ عَلَيْكَ ثَوْبٌ غَيْرُهُ فَاطْرَحْهُ وَ صَلِّ وَ إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ عَلَيْكَ ثَوْبٌ غَيْرُهُ فَامْضِ فِي صَلاَتِكَ وَ لاَ إِعَادَةَ عَلَيْكَ وَ مَا لَمْ يَزِدْ عَلَى مِقْدَارِ اَلدِّرْهَمِ مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَلَيْسَ بِشَيْءٍ رَأَيْتَهُ أَوْ لَمْ تَرَهُ فَإِذَا كُنْتَ قَدْ رَأَيْتَهُ وَ هُوَ أَكْثَرُ مِنْ مِقْدَارِ اَلدِّرْهَمِ فَضَيَّعْتَ غَسْلَهُ وَ صَلَّيْتَ فِيهِ صَلاَةً كَثِيرَةً فَأَعِدْ مَا صَلَّيْتَ فِيهِ».
The Shaykh (Al-Mufid), may Allah سبحانه وتعالى support him, narrated to me from Abu Al-Qasim Ja'far ibn Muhammad, from Muhammad ibn Ya'qub, from Ali ibn Ibrahim, from his father, from Hammad, from Hariz, from Muhammad ibn Muslim. He said:
I said to Imam عليه السلام: "What if there is blood on my clothing while I am in prayer?" Imam عليه السلام said: "If you notice it and you have another garment, then remove it and continue your prayer. But if you do not have another garment, then continue your prayer, and there is no need to repeat it. And if the blood does not exceed the size of a dirham, then it is not a concern - whether you notice it or not. However, if you see it and it is larger than a dirham and you neglected to wash it, and then you prayed in it multiple prayers, you must repeat all the prayers performed in it."
