سَهْلُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنِ اِبْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رِئَابٍ عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ عَنِ اَلْمَرْأَةِ اَلْحَائِضِ تَرَى اَلطُّهْرَ وَ هِيَ فِي اَلسَّفَرِ وَ لَيْسَ مَعَهَا مِنَ اَلْمَاءِ مَا يَكْفِيهَا لِغُسْلِهَا وَ قَدْ حَضَرَتِ اَلصَّلاَةُ قَالَ« إِذَا كَانَ مَعَهَا بِقَدْرِ مَا تَغْسِلُ بِهِ فَرْجَهَا فَتَغْسِلُهُ ثُمَّ تَتَيَمَّمُ وَ تُصَلِّي» قُلْتُ فَيَأْتِيهَا زَوْجُهَا فِي تِلْكَ اَلْحَالِ قَالَ« نَعَمْ إِذَا غَسَلَتْ فَرْجَهَا وَ تَيَمَّمَتْ».
Sahl ibn Ziyad narrated from Ibn Mahbub, from Ali ibn Ri'ab, from Abu Ubaydah:
I asked Abu Abdillah عليه السلام about a menstruating woman who sees purity while she is traveling and does not have enough water for her full ritual bath, and the time for prayer has arrived. Imam عليه السلام said: "If she has enough water to wash her private area, she should wash it, then perform tayammum (dry ablution) and pray." I asked: "Can her husband approach her in that state?" Imam عليه السلام said: "Yes, if she has washed her private area and performed tayammum."
