Tahdhīb al-Aḥkām|Volume 1|Book 1|Chapter 3
The Shaykh (Al-Mufid), may Allah سبحانه وتعالى support him, narrated to me, saying: Ahmad bin Muhammad narrated from his father, from Muhammad bin Yahya, from Ahmad bin Muhammad, from Al-Husayn bin Sa'id, from Hammad, from Hariz, from Zurara, from Abu Ja'far عليه السلام, who said:
Imam عليه السلام said: 'There is no prayer without purification (tahur), and three stones suffice for cleansing oneself (istinja), as this was the practice established by the Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, peace be upon him and his family. As for urine, it is necessary to wash it.'
