The Shaykh (Al-Mufid), may Allah سبحانه وتعالى support him, informed me from Abu al-Qasim Jaʿfar ibn Muhammad, from Muhammad ibn Yaʿqub, from Ali ibn Ibrahim, from his father and Muhammad ibn Ismaʿil, from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan, all from Hammad ibn ʿIsa, from Hariz, from Zurarah, who said:
Abu Jaʿfar عليه السلام said: "Maintain continuity in Wuduʾ as Allah سبحانه وتعالى, the Exalted, has commanded. Begin with the face, then the hands, then wipe over the head and the feet. Do not bring anything forward before its appointed place, as this would contradict what you have been commanded. If you wash the arm before the face, begin again with the face and then rewash the arm. If you wipe the foot before the head, then wipe over the head before the foot and then rewipe the foot. Begin with what Allah سبحانه وتعالى, the Exalted, has begun with."
