Chapter on the Description of Ablution (Wudu)

The Shaykh (Al-Mufid), may Allah سبحانه وتعالى support him, informed me from Ahmad ibn Muhammad, from his father, from al-Husayn ibn al-Hasan ibn Aban, from al-Husayn ibn Saʿid, from Ṣafwan and Fadalah ibn Ayyub, from Fudayl ibn ʿUthman, from Abu ʿUbaydah al-Hadhdhaʾ, who said: I assisted Abu Jaʿfar عليه السلام in performing ablution at Jamʿ (Muzdalifah) after he had relieved himself. I handed Imam عليه السلام water, and He عليه السلام cleansed himself (Istinjaʾ). Then He عليه السلام took a handful of water and washed his face, another handful and washed his right arm, and another handful and washed his left arm. Then, with the remaining moisture, He عليه السلام wiped his head and his feet."
