Narrated by al-Husayn ibn Sa'id, from Hammad, from Ruba'i ibn Abdullah, from Muhammad ibn Muslim, from Abu Ja'far عليه السلام, who said:
Salma, the servant of the Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), told me: "The hair of the wives of the Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was styled into braids positioned at the front of their heads, and a small amount of water was sufficient for them. However, as for women nowadays, it is appropriate for them to use more water thoroughly."
