Chapter on Tayammum and Its Rules

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنِ اَلْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ مَعْرُوفٍ عَنْ أَبِي هَمَّامٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ غَزْوَانَ عَنِ اَلسَّكُونِيِّ عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ آبَائِهِ عَلَيْهِمُ اَلسَّلاَمُ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهُ: أَنَّهُ أَتَى اَلنَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اَللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ هَلَكْتُ جَامَعْتُ عَلَى غَيْرِ مَاءٍ قَالَ فَأَمَرَ اَلنَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ بِمَحْمِلٍ فَاسْتَتَرْتُ بِهِ وَ بِمَاءٍ فَاغْتَسَلْتُ أَنَا وَ هِيَ ثُمَّ قَالَ لِي« يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ يَكْفِيكَ اَلصَّعِيدُ عَشْرَ سِنِينَ».
Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Mahbub narrated from al-‘Abbas ibn Ma‘ruf, from Abu Hammam, from Muhammad ibn Sa‘id ibn Ghazwan, from al-Sakuni, from Imam Ja’far Al Sadiq عليه السلام, from his father Imam Al Baqir عليه السلام, from his forefathers عليه السلام, from Abu Dharr (may Allah سبحانه وتعالى be pleased with him):
Abu Dharr said: "I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and said, 'O Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, I have perished; I engaged in intercourse without water (for ghusl).' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) commanded that a mihmal (a portable covering) be brought, so I (Abu Dharr) concealed myself with it, and water was brought, so both she and I performed ghusl. Then Prophet صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم said to me: 'O Abu Dharr, the earth suffices you (tayammum) for ten years.'"
