Al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id, from Hammad ibn ‘Isa, from Hariz, from Muhammad ibn Muslim, by Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, who said:
I asked Him عليه السلام about a man who prays in a single shirt, or a narrow-sleeved robe (qabaʾ taq), or a padded robe, and he is not wearing an izar (waist wrap). Imam عليه السلام said: "If the shirt is thick, and the robe (qabaʾ) is not split wide open in the front, and the single garment if he wraps it across himself, and the trousers (sarawil) are of that same type, then there is no problem with all of that. But when he wears trousers, he should put something over his shoulders, even if it is just a rope."
