Chapter on the Manner of Prayer, Its Description and What is Obligatory and Recommended
وَ عَنْهُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُذَافِرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ دُخُولِي مَعَ مَنْ أَقْرَأُ خَلْفَهُ فِي اَلرَّكْعَةِ اَلثَّانِيَةِ فَيَرْكَعُ عِنْدَ فَرَاغِي مِنْ قِرَاءَةِ أُمِّ اَلْكِتَابِ فَقَالَ« تَقْرَأُ فِي اَلْأُخْرَاوَيْنِ كَيْ تَكُونَ قَدْ قَرَأْتَ فِي رَكْعَتَيْنِ»
From him, from Abu Ishaq, from Amr ibn Uthman, from Muhammad ibn Udhafir, from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, who said:
I asked Him عليه السلام about joining the prayer behind someone while I am reciting behind him in the second rak'ah, and he bows just as I finish reciting the ‘Opening of the Book’ (Surah Al-Fatiha). Imam عليه السلام said: "Recite in the last two rak'ahs so that you will have recited in two rak'ahs."
