Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Barqi from Mansur ibn al-‘Abbas from ‘Amr ibn Sa‘id from al-Hasan ibn Sadaqah:
I said to Abu al-Hasan al-Awwal عليه السلام, peace be upon him: “Did the Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, peace be upon him and his family, ever end his prayer with the taslīm after only the first two rak‘ahs?” Imam عليه السلام said: "Yes." I asked: “Even in his state, as he was?” Imam عليه السلام said: "Indeed, Allah سبحانه وتعالى, the Mighty and Majestic, only intended to teach them (people around Him صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) jurisprudence."
