Chapter on What is Permissible and Impermissible to Pray in - of Clothing and Place

Ahmad ibn Muhammad, from his father, from Abdullah ibn Al-Mughirah, from Abdullah ibn Muskan, from Al-Halabi: Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, said: "There is no problem in praying in what is made from the wool of a carcass, for wool does not have a soul in it." Abdullah (ibn Muskan) said: “And Ali ibn Abi Hamzah narrated to me that a man asked Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, while I was with Imam عليه السلام, about a man who wears a sword around his neck and prays with it.” Imam عليه السلام said: "Yes." So the man said: “There is ‘kaymukht’ in it.” Imam عليه السلام said: "And what is ‘kaymukht’?" The man said: “Skins of animals, some of it is from a lawfully slaughtered animal, and some of it is from a carcass.” So Imam عليه السلام said: "What you know to be from a carcass, do not pray in it."
