Ali ibn Mahziyar, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Nasr, from Abu al-Hasan al-Ridha عليه السلام, peace be upon him, who said:
Abu Ja‘far عليه السلام, peace be upon him, said regarding ‘qunut’: “If you wish, then perform qunut; and if you wish, do not perform it.” Abu al-Hasan عليه السلام, peace be upon him, said: ‘And when there is taqiyyah (precautionary dissimulation), then do not perform qunut, and I adhere to this.’
