Al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id, from Muhammad ibn Sinan, from Ibn Muskan, from Ya‘qub al-Bazzaz. He said: I said to Him عليه السلام: “I rise shortly before Fajr and pray four rak‘ahs, then I fear that dawn will break, should I begin with the witr or complete the rak‘ahs?” Imam عليه السلام said: “No, rather perform the witr and delay the rak‘ahs until you make them up in the early part of the day.”
