اَلْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اَلرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ اَلْحَجَّاجِ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ عَنِ اَلْقِرَاءَةِ فِي اَلْوَتْرِ فَقَالَ «كَانَ بَيْنِي وَ بَيْنَ أَبِي بَابٌ فَكَانَ أَبِي إِذَا صَلَّى يَقْرَأُ فِي اَلْوَتْرِ بِ«قُلْ هُوَ اَللّٰهُ أَحَدٌ» فِي ثَلاَثَتِهِنَّ وَ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ« قُلْ هُوَ اَللّٰهُ أَحَدٌ» فَإِذَا فَرَغَ مِنْهَا قَالَ« كَذَلِكَ اَللَّهُ رَبِّي أَوْ كَذَاكَ اَللَّهُ رَبِّي»»
Al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id, from Safwan, from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Hajjaj. He said:
I asked Abu Abdillah عليه السلام about the recitation in the witr prayer. Imam عليه السلام said: “There was a door between me and my father عليه السلام, and when my father عليه السلام would pray, He عليه السلام would recite ‘Surah Al Ikhlas’ in the three rak‘ahs of the witr. And when He عليه السلام finished reciting it, He عليه السلام would say: ‘Thus, Allah سبحانه وتعالى is my Lord عز وجل,’ or ‘That is how Allah سبحانه وتعالى is my Lord عز وجل.’”
