Al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id, from Fadalah and Safwan, from al-‘Ala’, from Muhammad, from one of the two (Imams عليه السلام), peace be upon them:
(Imam عليه السلام was asked) regarding a man who finishes his prayer and has forgotten the tashahhud until he departs. Imam عليه السلام said: "If he is near (to the place of prayer), let him return to his place and recite the tashahhud; otherwise, let him find a clean place and recite the tashahhud there." And Imam عليه السلام said: "Indeed, the tashahhud is a sunnah (recommended act) within the prayer."
