Muhammad ibn Mas'ud al-'Ayyashi from Muhammad ibn Nusayr, who said: Muhammad ibn al-Husayn narrated to us from Ja’far ibn Bashir from Hisham ibn Salim from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, said: I asked Imam al-Sadiq عليه السلام about the woman, can she lead other women in prayer? Imam عليه السلام said: “She may lead them in the nafilah (supererogatory prayer), but as for the maktoobah (obligatory prayer), then no. And she should not stand in front of them, but rather she stands in the middle of them.” (meaning other women will join her shoulder-to-shoulder either side of her)
