Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Yahya from Ibrahim ibn Hashim from al-Nawfali from al-Sakuni from Imam Ja’far عليه السلام from his father Imam al-Baqir عليه السلام, from his forefathers, peace be upon them, who said: Imam al-Sadiq عليه السلام said: “The Commander of the Faithful عليه السلام, peace be upon him, said: ‘If a ruler among the rulers of Allah سبحانه وتعالى (meaning Imam عليه السلام), is present at a funeral, then he is the most entitled to perform the prayer (Salat Al Mayyit) over it, if the guardian of the deceased permits him. Otherwise, he (one who assumed without permission) is a usurper (Gasib).”
