Chapter on the Additions

Tahdhīb al-Aḥkām|Volume 3|Book 1|Chapter 22
As for what was narrated by Ibn Abi Umayr from Abdillah ibn Sinan from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, who said: Imam al-Sadiq عليه السلام said: “The prayer (Salat Al Mayyit) is not performed over the stillborn (al-manfus) and this is a newborn who did not cry out, and did not show signs of life, and thus will not inherit from blood money (al-diyyah) or anything else. But if it (newborn) cries (shows signs of life), then pray (Salat Al Mayyit) over it (if they die afterwards) and include them in inheritance.”
