Ali ibn Hatim from Ali ibn al-Husayn from Ahmad ibn Abi Abdillah from his father from Ibn al-Mughirah from Imam al-Ridha عليه السلام, peace be upon him:
Imam al-Ridha عليه السلام said: “O’ Allah سبحانه وتعالى, send blessings upon (Prophet) Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم and his family عليه السلام among the first, And send blessings upon (Prophet) Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم and his family عليه السلام among the last, And send blessings upon (Prophet) Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم and his family عليه السلام in the highest assembly, And send blessings upon (Prophet) Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم and his family عليه السلام among the prophets and the messengers. O’ Allah سبحانه وتعالى, grant (Prophet) Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم, may Allah سبحانه وتعالى bless him and his family, the means, the honor, the excellence, and the great rank. O’ Allah سبحانه وتعالى, I have believed in (Prophet) Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم, peace be upon him and his family, though I have not seen him, so do not deprive me on the Day of Resurrection of seeing him. Grant me his companionship, cause me to die upon his religion, and give me to drink from his pool a satisfying drink after which I shall never thirst again. Indeed, You عز وجل have power over all things. O’ Allah سبحانه وتعالى, just as I have believed in (Prophet) Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم, may Allah سبحانه وتعالى bless him and his family, though I have not seen him, so make me recognize his face in Paradise. O’ Allah سبحانه وتعالى, convey from me to the soul of (Prophet) Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم many greetings and peace.” (Imam عليه السلام then continued) “Then supplicate with whatever occurs to you. Then prostrate and say in your prostration: ‘O’ Allah سبحانه وتعالى, I ask You عز وجل, O’ Hearer of every sound, O’ Creator of souls after death, O’ He عز وجل whom darkness does not veil, whose hearing is not confused by voices, whose understanding is not mistaken by needs. O’ He عز وجل who forgets nothing because of something else, and whom nothing distracts from anything, Grant (Prophet) Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم and the family of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم your blessings, upon him and upon them, The best of what they have asked You عز وجل, The best of what they sought from You عز وجل, The best of what You عز وجل have been asked for on their behalf, The best of what I have asked You عز وجل for them, And the best of what You عز وجل are asked for them until the Day of Resurrection.”
