Chapter on the Prayer of the Two Eids

Al-Husayn ibn Said from Ahmad ibn Abdillah al-Qarawi from Aban ibn Uthman from Ismail al-Jufi from Abu Ja’far عليه السلام, peace be upon him: Imam al-Baqir عليه السلام said regarding the Eid prayer: “He pronounces a single takbirah with which he opens the prayer, then he recites the ‘Umm al-Kitab’ (Surah Al Fatihah) and a surah. Then he says five takbirs, and performs ‘qunut’ between them. Then he says one takbirah and bows with it. Then he stands and recites the ‘Umm al-Kitab’ (Surah Al Fatihah) and a surah. In first (rak’ah), he recites ‘Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High’ (Surah Al-A’la) and in second (rak’ah), ‘By the sun and its morning brightness’ (Surah Ash-Shams). Then he says four takbirs and does qunut between them, then bows with the fifth one.”
