Tahdhīb al-Aḥkām|Volume 3|Book 2|Chapter 1
From him, from Safwan, from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Hajjaj, from Abu al-Hasan عليه السلام, peace be upon him, said:
I asked Imam al-Kadhim عليه السلام about performing the supererogatory prayer (al-nafilah) while in residence (al-hadar) on the back of a riding animal, when I go out close to the houses of Kufah or if I am in a hurry in Kufah. Imam عليه السلام said: “If you are in a hurry and unable to dismount, and you fear missing it (the prayer) if you leave it while you are riding, then yes. Otherwise, your prayer on the ground is more beloved to me.”
