From him, from Imran ibn Muhammad ibn Imran al-Qummi from some of our companions from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, who said:
I said to Imam al-Sadiq عليه السلام: “A man goes out for hunting for a distance of a day or two, should he shorten or complete (the prayer)?” Imam عليه السلام said: “If he goes out for his sustenance and the sustenance of his family (meaning necessity), then let him break his fast and shorten (the prayer); But if he goes out seeking excess (luxury or amusement, without necessity), then no (breaking fast or shortening prayer) and no honor (in that) for him.”
