Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad from al-Mu'alla ibn Muhammad from al-Washa from Hammad ibn Uthman from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him:
Imam al-Sadiq عليه السلام was asked regarding the saying of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, the Majestic: “But whoever is forced by necessity, neither desiring it nor transgressing” (Surah Al Baqarah 2:173). Imam عليه السلام said: “The one who ‘desires’ (it) is the seeker of game (hunting, ‘al-baghi’), and the ‘transgressor’ is the thief (al-adi); Neither of them is permitted to eat the dead meat (al-maytah) if they are compelled to it (starvation), it is forbidden for them (even under extreme necessity). It is not (allowed) upon them as it is upon the Muslims, and also they are not allowed to shorten the prayer.”
