Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Isa, from Musa ibn al-Qasim al-Bajali and Abu Qatadah al-Qummi, from Ali ibn Ja’far, from his brother Musa ibn Ja’far, peace be upon them, said:
I asked Imam al-Kadhim عليه السلام about the funeral prayer if the sun has turned red, does it become valid or not? Imam عليه السلام said: “There is no prayer during the time of (another) prayer.” And Imam عليه السلام said: “When the sun sets, then perform the Maghrib prayer, then perform the prayer over the funeral.”
