Chapter on the Virtue of Mosques and Prayer Within Them, and the Virtue of Congregational Prayer and Its Rulings
Al-Husayn ibn Bashir from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him:
A man asked Imam al-Sadiq عليه السلام about recitation behind the imam (of prayer). Imam عليه السلام said: “No. Indeed, the imam (of prayer) is a guarantor for the recitation, and the imam (of prayer) does not guarantee the prayer of those behind him; he only guarantees the recitation.”
