Chapter on the Virtue of Mosques and Prayer Within Them, and the Virtue of Congregational Prayer and Its Rulings

And Ali ibn Ja’far asked his brother Imam Musa ibn Ja’far عليه السلام, peace be upon them both, about a man who is behind an imam (of prayer) and the imam (of prayer) prolongs the tashahhud. However, the man is overcome by the need to urinate, or fears something might be missed, or some pain arises, what should he do? Imam عليه السلام said: “He should say the taslim and leave, and leave the imam (of prayer).”
