Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Mahbub, from Ahmad ibn al-Hasan ibn Ali, from Ali ibn Ya'qub al-Hashimi, from Marwan ibn Muslim, from Ibn Abi Ya'fur, from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, who said:
Imam al-Sadiq عليه السلام said: “If the sun or the moon is eclipsed, and the entire body is eclipsed, then it is proper for the people to hasten to an imam (of prayer) so that he may pray with them. And if either of them is partially eclipsed, then it suffices for a man to pray alone. And the prayer of ‘al-Kusuf’ (prayer of eclipse) is ten rak‘ahs and four prostrations. The eclipse of the sun is more severe upon the people and the animals.”
