Sa’ad, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad, from the one who narrated to him, from Abdullah ibn Sinan, from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, who said:
I (narrator) asked Imam عليه السلام about ‘the charity of al-Fitrah.’ Imam عليه السلام said: “On behalf of every head from your family, the young among them and the old, the free and the owned slave, the rich and the poor, everyone whom you have joined to yourself; on behalf of every person is one sa’ of wheat, or one sa’ of barley, or dates, or raisins.” And Imam عليه السلام said: “Dates are more beloved to me, for indeed, for every date, you will have a palm tree in Paradise.”
