Muhammad ibn Ya'qub, from Ali ibn Ibrahim, from his father, from Hammad, from Hariz, from Abu Basir, who said:
I (narrator) said to Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him: “A man dies and leaves dependants; ‘Are they to be given from the zakat?’” Imam عليه السلام said: "Yes, until they grow up and reach maturity, and they are asked from where they used to live when that is cut off from them." So I (narrator) said: “They do not know.” Imam عليه السلام said: "Their deceased one is preserved through them, and the religion of their father is made beloved to them, so it will not be long before they become concerned with their religion. Then, (if) when they reach maturity and turn away to other than the religion of their father, do not give to them."
