Chapter on Additions

And Ali ibn al-Hasan ibn Faddal narrated, from Ibrahim ibn Hashim, from Hammad ibn Isa, from Muhammad ibn Muslim, who said: I (narrator) asked Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, about ‘purchasing from the land of the Jews and the Christians.’ Imam عليه السلام said: "There is no harm in it. The Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, may Allah سبحانه وتعالى bless him and his family, prevailed over the people of Khaybar, so He صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم made an agreement with them that He صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم would leave the land in their hands, and they would work it and cultivate it. So I see no harm in it if you were to buy something from it. And whichever people revive anything from the land and work it, then they have the greater right to it, and it belongs to them."
