Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Yahya, from Abu Ishaq Ibrahim ibn Hashim, from Ismail ibn Marrar, from Yunus ibn Abd al-Rahman, from some of his men, from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, who said:
I (narrator) asked Imam عليه السلام about ‘the limit of the hire-carrier (al-mukari) who fasts and completes the prayer.’ Imam عليه السلام said: “Whichever hire-carrier (mukari) stays in his house, or in the town which he enters, for less than a stay of ten days, fasting and completion are always obligatory upon him. But if his stay in his house, or in the town which he enters, is more than ten days, then upon him are shortening and breaking the fast.”
