Chapter on Ruling of the Traveller and the Sick Person Regarding Fasting
And from him, from al-Hasan ibn Ali, from Rifaah, who said:
I (narrator) asked Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, about ‘a man to whom travel presents itself in the month of Ramadan until he enters the morning.’ Imam عليه السلام said: “He completes his fast on that day.” He (narrator) said: “I asked, ‘Then he comes forward in the month of Ramadan, and there is not between him and his family except the morning part of the day.’” Imam عليه السلام said: “When dawn rises while he is outside, then he has the choice: if he wishes, he fasts, and if he wishes, he breaks the fast.”
