Sa’ad ibn Abdullah, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad, from al-Husayn ibn Said, from Safwan ibn Yahya, from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Hajjaj, who said:
I (narrator) asked Abu al-Hasan عليه السلام, peace be upon him, about ‘the fasting person, do you consider it permissible for him to smell sweet basil (al-rayhan), or do you not consider that permissible for him?’ Imam عليه السلام said: “There is no harm in it.”
