Chapter on Making Up the Month of Ramadan, and the Ruling of One Who Breaks the Fast in It Intentionally and Forgetfully, and One upon Whom Fasting Two Consecutive Months Is Obligatory and He Breaks the Fast during Them, or upon Whom There Is a Vow Regarding Fasting

Al-Husayn ibn Said, from Muhammad ibn Abi Umayr and Fadalah, from Rifaah, who said: I (narrator) asked Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, about ‘a man upon whom there is the fasting of two consecutive months, so he fasted a month and became ill.’ Imam عليه السلام said: “He builds upon it (the days he has already fasted); Allah سبحانه وتعالى detained him (in the illness).” I (narrator) asked: “A woman upon whom there was the fasting of two consecutive months, so she fasted, then broke the fast during the days of her menstruation.” Imam عليه السلام said: “She makes them up.” – meaning the days she missed. I (narrator) asked: “Then if she makes them up, and thereafter her menstruation ceases altogether?” Imam عليه السلام said: “She does not repeat them; that suffices her.”
